Though we later had a big party with a fancy Harry Potter Monster Book of Monsters cake, we spent the weekend of my daughter’s actual birthday at our favorite campground.

I made a simple vanilla cake using my favorite recipe filled and frosted with chocolate Italian Meringue Buttercream to share with our camping friends.

We adorned it with multi-colored royal icing flowers that I had made previously.
